| Menu Works was founded in 1993 by Stephen Johnston, a Clemson University graduate student. Stephen would go to local restaurants near the college to offer menu designing and printing services.
In September 1994 he sold the business to Walter Ezell, a writer and editor who worked for a local newspaper. Some of Walter’s first customers met with him in his living room. By the following spring, Walter burned through his vacation time at the newspaper, went part-time, and finally resigned. Less than a year after he bought the business, he moved it to a small storefront in Greenville, SC.
The business grew slowly at first. Then in 1998, Walter hit the road with his new SUV and took to the road with his menus. Backed by a growing support staff, he traveled throughout the Southeast and the business took off.
Today Menu Works, Inc. has customers in more than 40 states. A talented, bilingual staff of full-time designers makes “Menus as Good as Your Restaurant.”
